When we were in Palm Springs for my birthday last month, I wanted to do some of the tourist-y things I never did growing up in California. We decided last minute that it would be fun to go for a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, so we got up early Saturday morning and made our way up the mountain. To see I was inappropriately dressed would be an understatement. We got in line to purchase our tickets and were surrounded by backpackers and hikers that were decked out in hiking gear with large backpacks and climbing equipment.

I, on the other hand, decided a floral romper and Isabel Marant sandals were an excellent hiking wardrobe decision. Ha! It wasn’t so bad. The tram takes you up about 8,500 feet (a ten minute ride) to the mountain station where you can find an observation deck, a restaurant, and 50 miles of hiking trails. We stayed at the station and just wandered around the observation decks to scope out the view. It was breathtaking! Almost unreal to find a forest smack in the middle of the desert up in the mountains. I’m so glad we decided to wake up early to do this. If you’re ever in Palm Springs I highly recommend it. Even if just for the views alone. It’s really quite beautiful.

After our venture, we decided to grab some brunch at the über cool Ace Hotel diner, King’s Highway. So, so good. We’re talking avocado mountains on one large piece of toast. Heaven. The Ace Hotel is a must-see spot when in Palm Springs. Every square inch of this place is photo-worthy. I wish we had the time to stay longer and explore, but I had friends arriving back at The Junipero for my birthday pool party. But I was so happy we had a chance to stop by!
