Bare Escentuals Well Rested is a real eye opener

April 9, 2010
What it is: A mineral-based powder miracle concealer and eyeshadow base.

What it does: Use different shades of this versatile product for a variety of skin enhancements.

This has become my new favroite eye brightener. I first apply my usual concealer, then foundation, followed by a setting powder, and then I blend Well Rested underneath my eyes to not only set the concealer I had already applied, but also to make my eyes look more awake and to brighten the under eye area. This stuff works magic. Concealer doesn’t always cover my undereye dark circles, even when followed with foundation, but Well Rested seems to brighten the area up so much that they virtually make my eye circles disappear! If you look up close, you can still see the dark circles, but from a slight distance and even in photographs my eyes just look illuminated with a glow and the dark circles are unnoticeable. The effect is subtle, but works well.

I’ve been using my MAC 224 Blending Brush to buff the brightening powder under my eyes. You don’t need a lot of the powder, a little goes a long way. Plus, you want to avoid piling on so much makeup underneath the eye area in order to prevent that “cakey” look. So a light dusting is all you need with a good blending brush to buff it right into the skin. I found that the Studio Tools Contour (Crease) Brush also does an excellent job at applying the powder.

I wouldn’t suggest wearing Well Rested on its own, unless of course you don’t have any dark circles, because it is a rather sheer formula and doesn’t actually cover anything up. But if you need that extra oomph under the eye area, then I would highly suggest trying this eye brightener out. You’ll be amazed at how awake and refreshed you look.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Eyeshadow Well Rested can be found wherever Bare Escentuals products are sold and will cost you about $18 for 0.03 oz of product.
