Hope you all had a great New Year! I can’t believe it’s already 2011. It’s been an interesting year filled with ups and downs, including New Years Eve which was a big bummer for me because I ended up spending the night sick at home due to either food poisoning or the stomach flu; I have yet to pin point exactly what was wrong. But I have high hopes that great things are only to come for this new year and that things will continuously get better.
Now moving on to the product highlights of 2010. Here is a round up of my favorite and most used beauty products of the year.
Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Fluid (NC25) was definitely my favorite foundation this year seen as I went through 4 bottles! I also frequently used bareMinerals Original Foundation (Medium Beige 2N) in the summer and Revlon Photo Ready Foundation (Nude 004) is great for days when I prefer a lighter coverage.
Concealer: MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NC20) is hands down my favorite concealer for both under eye dark circles and blemishes. I hardly ever bother with others. I do, however, use bareMinerals Well Rested Eye Brightener blended over Studio Finish to help brighten the under eye area and to set the concealer.
Powder: I alternate between MAC Blot Powder (Medium) and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Light Medium). But I also like to use bareMinerals lightly dusted over my face to set my liquid foundation for an extra gleam since it makes my face glow, as opposed to a matte look.
Blush: MAC Blush Ombres in Ripe Peach and Azalea Blossom are my favorite products overall in 2010. Unfortunately they are limited edition and were released with the Spring Colour Forecast Collection. But they are awesome and I still use them almost daily alternating between the two. I’m hoping MAC will re-release them with a future collection this new year as I have a feeling I may hit pan soon in these blushes.
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer. A day has not gone by that I haven’t used this product since I first purchased it. It is the absolute best bronzer on the market, in my opinion. It is the perfect shade that leaves a natural tanned effect on the skin and is matte so it isn’t full of shimmer and glitter like most bronzers.
Highlight: MAC Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl. This has to be my second favorite product overall in 2010. It is also limited edition and was re-released with the Give Me Liberty of London Collection. I LOVE this powder. It leaves the most beautiful sheen and works with just about any makeup look. It leaves a soft light pink glow that works beautifully as a highlight on my upper cheekbones.
Eyeshadow: MAC Shroom, MAC Vanilla, MAC Soft Brown, MAC Mulch and e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow in Natural.
Eyeliner: MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack; use it just about every day. I also fell in love with the CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner Pencil in Black Fire.
Eyeshadow primer/base: MAC Paint Pot in Painterly along with a NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil coordinating with an all over eyeshadow.
Eyelash curler: Revlon Eyelash Curler
Mascara: CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara: Volume, Luxe, Fusion. I love ’em all! This is my go to mascara. It works perfect for me because they all volumize and lengthen my lashes without making them look like spider legs and I can pile this stuff on and it will never clump always leaving me with natural, luscious looking lashes. The only one I don’t like is the LashBlast length because it has an entirely different brush and just doesn’t work the same.
Lipstick: MAC Viva Glam V is my everyday lipstick. It’s one of those “my lips but better” colors. For a little more va-va voom I’ve been loving Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in NSFW, a blue-based primary red. It gives me a perfect matte red without completely drying out my lips, like MAC’s Russian Red usually does, and it lasts all day.
Lipgloss: MAC Lipglass in Nymphette and e.l.f. Hypershine Lipgloss in Fairy.
Nail polish: Revlon Minted, OPI My Private Jet, China Glaze Ruby Pumps
Shower gel/soap: Bath and Body Works Green Tea and Cucumber Shower Gel
Body lotion/cream: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Body exfoliator: Soap & Glory Flake Away Exfoliator
Hand cream: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (I use this for everything!)
Lip balm/treatment: MAC Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15, LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub
Perfume: Marc Jacobs Daisy
Cleanser: L’ Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Cream Cleanser. I love this cleansing formula and the scrublet. I’ve always hated washing my face but this product makes it more convenient and easier. I know a lot of people did not like this product, but after using it for several months I still love it!
Toner/lotion: I use MAC Fix + both before my moisturizer to help liven up my face and retain more moisture and I use it after I’ve finishes my foundation and powder to help rid of the powdery appearance and “set” my makeup. It melts it all together to give that airbrushed look; it doesn’t actually set my makeup to stay put all day.
Moisturizer: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Facial mask: MAC Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask. I use this sparingly.
Exfoliator: St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub
Makeup remover: Kirkland Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes. This is the best value out there as far as makeup wipes go. And I have yet to find a facial wipe that works and feels better than these. Great makeup wipes that come in a box of 120 all for around $12? Can’t beat that!
