CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara Review

February 14, 2010

I am always in the search for the “holy grail” mascara, especially with my long eyelashes. I hate wearing fake eyelashes (it takes me forever to put them on) and I like my lashes to look very bold and dark, as if I were wearing fake lashes. Luckily, I am very blessed with abundant and extremely long lashes, but they still need that extra oomph. I tend to have a problem with the mascara flaking on me and leaving little black specks under my eyes which can make it look like I have horrible dark circles. I’ve tried numerous MAC mascaras and have had no such luck, and I havn’t been too impressed with Lancome’s masacaras, which had gotten awesome reviews. So I decided to try the CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara because everyone in the beauty blog world have said such wonderful things about it.

I picked up the regular CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black (the orange tube) not too long ago and have yet to stop using it since. This mascara has a HUGE wand which works wonders for my long lashes and I don’t ever have a problem with clumping, EVER! I tend to apply a lot of layers of mascara and this stuff still does not clump. I love it. I have officially found my “holy grail” mascara. My only complaint is that no matter how much of it I layer on, it still isn’t a dark, dark black. My lashes appear to have a more natural color to them, but I prefer for them to be super black. But other than that it truly is perfect.
But, after reading a post on the CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe Mascara (the red tube) on Natty’s blog I thought I would try it as well. She claimed that it was an even darker black than the original LashBlast, and to my surprise, it is! I got the LashBlast Luxe Mascara in Black Platinum but I was a little reluctant because it has shimmer in it and I wasn’t sure how shimmery it would be. But once the mascara is on the lashes, you can’t even see the shimmer, they just look super black. Even more perfect.
CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara- Original and Luxe
  • Doesn’t clump
  • Volumizes and lengthens eyelashes
  • Doesn’t flake throughout the day
  • Doesn’t leave little black dots underneath eyes
  • Easy to remove
  • Inexpensive, easy to find

  • The original formula isn’t very black (Luxe is much better in color)
