MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (clockwise):
Soft and Gentle, Stereo Rose, Petticoat, Sunny By Nature
I love just about everything from MAC Cosmetics, but I have to say my favorite MAC products of all time are the Mineralize Skinfinishes, also knows as MSF’s. I have yet to find one I didn’t like, but I always gravitate towards these four Skinfinishes the most.
Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
Soft and Gentle is a favorite amongst many makeup artists, beauty bloggers and YouTube gurus as the perfect highlight powder. It is a frosted champagne powder that leaves a gorgeous sheen when strategically placed on the upper cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, in the cupid’s bow on the lips and in the inner tear ducts of the eyes. It literally makes the whole face pop with a natural glow. This is also one of my favorite highlight powders. I usually apply it with the Real Techniques Contour Brush.
Minerallize Skinfinish in Petticoat
Petticoat is a limited edition Mineralize Skinfinish that came out with the In the Groove Collection. It has tones of raspberry, pink and bronze and when swirled together makes a gorgeous pink sheen. It can be used as a light blush or as a highlight. It looks even more gorgeous when used with a wet brush to really bring out the pigmentation of the colors. It is very shimmery and is a bit more chunkier of a shimmer than the other MSF’s, but when applied it doesn’t make you look like a disco ball- the shimmer is very subtle. I apply Petticoat with a stippling brush such as a MAC 187 when using as a blush, or the ELF Blush brush when using as a highlighter.
Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose
Stereo Rose is one of the most coveted and hard to get MSF’s that MAC has ever produced. It is a limited edition MSF from the In the Groove collection (as well as 3 other collections) that packs a beautiful swirl of pink, coral and gold. When applied it leaves a gorgeous coral pigmentation on the cheeks. I always use this as a “pick-me-up” blush when my face needs that extra oomph! It really brightens up the whole face and gives a natural, luminous coral glow on the cheeks. I never apply it wet because it is pretty pigmented on its on and I always use it with the MAC 131 brush.
Mineralize Skinfinish in Sunny By Nature
Sunny by Nature is another limited edition MSF that came out with the MAC Colour Craft collection several years ago. This is a bronzer that has orange, muted brown and bronze tones that leaves a luminous, golden color. I use it as a bronzer or a blush for days when I don’t want to heavily contour. It can be a bit on the orange side at times, so you have to use it with a light hand. I always use a MAC 168 brush to apply it in the hollows of my cheeks.

MAC is always producing new Mineralize Skinfinishes with new collections, but these four still seem to remain as my favorite. They are a bit pricey at $29 a piece but I find I get a lot of use out of them so I at least get my money’s worth.
If you haven’t tried one before, I suggest starting with Soft and Gentle since it is a great universal highlight powder that you can easily use every day, plus it is a permanent product so you won’t have any issues finding it.
