IMATS 2010: Haul and Event Pics plus FOTD

This was my first time ever going to the International Make Up Artists Trade Show and I have to say it was a rather incredible experience. I am definitely planning on going every year from now on. My only regret was not bringing enough money with me seen as I could have spent a whole lot more than I actually did. I really didn’t get all that much, which was mostly due to the fact that I went to Vegas a few days before and basically blew all my money there (which of course included a visit to the MAC PRO store- haul post to come soon). But regardless of my pathetic haul, I still had a blast and I would highly suggest that if you have any interest in makeup that you attend next year. It’s a lot of fun.

The event itself was rather overwhelming at first since it was packed and there were tons of vendor booths making a maze that you had to work your way through all while squeezing in between crowds of people. But once I figured out the layout and where everything was, I felt a little more at ease and was able to walk around without stressing out. I tend to get a little stressed in major crowds. But there were tons of vendors and many of them were offering discounts on their products including Make Up Forever, which I sadly missed out on since I had run out of money.

The one thing I was most excited about and made sure to purchase first were the Lip Tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Normally sold for $12.50 each, they were only $10 at the show so I picked up two in Anime, a vivid neon pink, and NSFW, a primary, blue-based red.

These lip products are awesome. I had seen them featured in dozens of YouTube videos and they seemed like a fantastic product. So I knew I had to give them a try. They are almost like a liquid lipstick and are so incredibly pigmented you barely even need a drop to cover your entire lips, and I mean a VERY small drop. So while the tubes, carrying about 8 ml each, appear very small, they will last an extremely long time since you only need a tiny amount for each use. They are incredibly unique and unlike any lip product I have ever tried. So I am thrilled that I was able to get my hands on them.

I ended up finding a booth that was selling false eyelashes for only $1 each so I got two different pairs, all dramatically long, of course.

The were also tons and tons of makeup brushes at unbelievably cheap prices. I found brushes that I had been meaning to buy on the Coastal Scents Website for a whole lot less at various brush vendor booths. So I went ahead and bought a couple to stock up on at the Cici Fashion Brush booth.

Blending Eye Brush (MAC 226 dupe)- $1.50
Eyeliner Brush (MAC 266 dupe)- $1
Eyeshadow Brush- $1
Fan Brush- $2.50
Flat Painters Brush (for body painting and contouring)- $0.50
Kabuki on a stick (bareMinerals Kabuki on a stick dupe)- $3.50
Small Foundation Brush (used for concealer)- $1.50
Spoolie (for eyebrows)- $0.50
The same vendor also had a variety of makeup brush rolls at ridiculously low prices so I got a 13 slot black leather brush roll for only $7! Such an amazing deal for a pretty decent quality brush roll.

The last thing I stopped at and decided to spend the rest of my measly makeup fund on was the NYX Cosmetics booth. I figured I would get a couple of the Jumbo Eye Pencils since they were marked down to $2 each, so I purchased Cherry and Baby Blue.

I also could not take my eyes off the glitter they had so I bought quite a few of the Glitter On the Go (loose glitter in pigment vials) since they were only $3.50 each. I ended up getting Snow (iridescent white), Summer Breeze (teal), Sparks (true gold), Luxurious Lavender (iridescent lavender), Las Vegas (holographic black), Champagne Bubble (peachy gold).

The most mesmerizing aspect to the entire trade show was seeing the immaculate body painting so I figured I would share a few photos of the people I saw walking around.

And…I got a picture with Amy from Shrinkle and Sugarpill Cosmetics!!! I was so excited to meet her!

So all in all I had an amazing time and I can’t wait for IMATS again next year! Now on to the FOTD:

Wow, these are some great deals. I've never heard of the Lip Tars, but those are really beautiful. I'm in love with the pink one, I think I'm going to set out to find a few. Nice post.
