L’oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base

April 2, 2010

L’oreal is releasing a set of products called the Studio Secrets Professional Collection and the first item released was the Magic Perfecting Base. This base is meant to be worn underneath foundation to provide a smooth even coverage of the face to make a perfect canvas for foundation to glide on smoothly.

I’ve been using the product for about two weeks now and I have to say that I do like it. It’s not a “Wow, this stuff is amazing!” type of product and it definitely isn’t a must have. But I don’t hate it. It works well in minimizing the pores on my face and prevents my foundation from settling into any fine lines, especially my laugh line which makieup settles into about half way through the day. But the Perfecting Base prevents any of those lines from showing. I didn’t notice any change in longevity of my makeup when wearing the primer, as the product claims it will do.

The base has a frosting-like consistency and a little goes a long way, thankfully since it comes in a very small package (not much bigger than a MAC Paint Pot). It glides smoothly over the face but it can be a bit drying so I always put moisturizer on before applying the base. It will however work well for those with oilier skin as it will make wearing liquid foundation easier without it sliding off your face by the end of the day.

The base is around $12 and although it is on the pricier side for a drugstore brand and not much product, it is a lot more affordable than other face primers. So it is worth giving a try, especially if you have oily or combination skin. You can find the L’oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base anywhere Loreal products are sold.
