I first saw the Liquiline Blast Eyeliner featured in a magazine as a product used on the runway and I was immediately intrigued. So when Ulta finally got them in I snatched up the last black one, called Black Fire, and threw it in my basket. And, it’s been a love affair ever since.
My go-to eyeliner pencil has been Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Zero for quite some time now, but at $17 a pop, I find myself struggling to replace it once the pencil dwindles down to nothing. I can’t justify spending that much on an eyeliner. It’s a bit ridiculous.
Thankfully, the Liquiline Blast has officially replaced my love for 24/7 Pencils because this eyeliner packs some serious pigmentation and unbelievable lasting power. It is incredibly soft and creamy which allows for it to glide on easily. This means no harsh tugging like you get with most drugstore brand eyeliners. It effortlessly goes on without having to apply any pressure, so it’s extra gentle on the eyes. And because it’s so soft, it sharpens really easy. This can also be a downside because you will end up going through it too quickly if you over sharpen it, so you have to make sure to apply it with a light hand and be gentle when you sharpen it in order to make it last longer.
The pencil is also waterproof giving you liner that won’t smudge. It actually lasts all day! There is a tiny amount of fading, but nothing extremely noticeable. I can even draw a winged liner with this (yes, you can use this pencil to draw thin, precise lines) and it won’t budge at all, no matter what the weather is like. I did a winged liner when I went to Disneyland and it was over 90 degrees outside and it stayed put all day. What more could you ask for in an eyeliner pencil? For this very reason, the CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner is now my holy grail eyeliner pencil. But just when you thought it couldn’t get any better…it does! (Sorry, I sound like a cheesy infomercial lol.)
On the other end of the pencil is a smudger that works immensely better than any brush. It isn’t the cheap sponge tip that a lot of eyeliners come with. This is a super soft, flexible rubber tip that is slanted on one side for gentle and quick smudging of the liner. I prefer to use the smudger on my lower lash line after lining it with the pencil side to obtain a simple smokey eye that takes a mere few seconds.
As you can see, this really is an awesome product. It is a little pricey at $9 for a CoverGirl product, but is so worth it because it’s something that will be used on a daily basis. Plus, it beats paying $17 for the Urban Decay Pencils. So if you see the CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliners at your local Ulta or CVS (I have yet to be able to find them anywhere else), pick one up and give it a try. I love it so much, I may just get all of the other colors!
