Revlon Photo Ready Foundation and Review

I’ve been bored with my every day foundation, MAC Studio Fix Fluid, and I have been wanting something that has more of a glow to it and isn’t as matte. I recently got a sample of the Makeup Forever HD Foundation from Sephora and I love it, but I am definitely not willing to fork over $40 for a foundation. So when I found this Revlon foundation at Ulta, I thought I would give it a try.

I usually am anti-drugstore foundations but this stuff has been getting awesome reviews on Makeup Alley so I figured for $13 a bottle, why not give it a go. And I am so glad I did. This is my new favorite foundation! It gives my skin a dewey finish and just makes it glow. This is perfect for my dry skin because I don’t have to apply tons of moisturizer before my foundation like I do with most matte foundations since they tend to be super drying on my face.

Here is what the foundation claims:

“Looking for that dewy glow? This lightweight, non-greasy foundation by Revlon goes on smooth to hide your imperfections. It has light coverage, but is builable for a more full coverage.”

This is a very lightweight foundation and does go on a little sheer, however you can apply more layers to achieve more of a full coveraage. I got color Nude 004 which matches perfectly, however I think I will go back to buy the next shade Natural Beige 005 to mix together so my face doesn’t look as pale. I have used this with my MAC 187 brush, MAC 109 and ELF Powder Brush and I really like the ELF brush the best with it. The 187 left the foundation super streaky on my face and didn’t blend as well, where as the ELF brush blends it out perfectly, and more quickly. The 109 did a decent job too, but I prefer the ELF brush over this for a fuller coverage (I like my freckles to be concealed).
This foundation also has SPF 20 which is great because you should always wear some sort of SPF on your face to prevent sun damage (even when the sun isn’t out, your skin can still get damaged). NEVER wear a foundation without SPF; facial sunscreens look horrible if applied under foundations, so opt for a foundation with SPF already in it.
Revlon Photo Ready Foundation
Pros:
  • Gives skin a dewey glow (light reflecting particles)
  • Works great for dry-normal skintones (oilier skin tones should use a powder over it)
  • Very affordable, easy to find
  • Has SPF 20
  • Comes with a foundation pump (not sold separetly like MAC foundations)

Cons:

  • Not a large selections of shades, may have to buy two shades and mix together
  • Very sheer, more layers have to be applied for full coverage

Overall: This is a great everyday foundation and is an awesome alternative to the pricier foundations such as the Makeup Forever HD Foundation. It really makes your face glow and gives a dewey finish which makes the foundation look much more natural on the face. I highly recommend this product, especially at a price point of only $13. Give it a try!
